A Fun Saturday

What a busy and fun Saturday!

Xander woke up ready to go at 6:30 and said, “will you get up and play with me?” How could I turn down that request?

Once Augustus and Nate were up too, we ate breakfast and headed out to Costco. I never thought I would bring the whole family to Costco, but what else is there to do on a Saturday? And the boys love it. So we shopped for almond meal, diapers, and laundry soap (plus much more) in bulk.

After Costco, we met Brad and Angela at Bad Weather Brewery to catch up while they are visiting from Colorado. The boys ate lunch, played with cars, and ran around. We were lucky that it was pretty empty and we had the whole back room to ourselves so the boys could just run free while we chatted and drank noon beer and ate food truck tacos.

After the brewery, we went home and the boys (and me) took naps. It is rare that I nap, but I was exhausted! It is also rare that Xander naps, so I think maybe the 6:30 wake up for both of us might have been too early.

When we all woke up, we headed to the Como Harriet Streetcar for a ride with Ben! It’s been an annual tradition to go for a Streetcar ride after camp for several years now and today was perfect weather and a great night for a Trolley ride!

After the ride, we had a picnic dinner and then the boys played on the HUGE playground. There was a Hershey’s S’mores Truck handing out marshmallows, sticks and s’mores! So we roasted s’mores, which wasn’t part of our original plan, but a fun surprise! I wish every park had free s’mores trucks!

Our original plan was to get ice cream after the playground. S’mores were not a replacement for ice cream according to Xander. We have been trying to detox from our summer of sweets, but it was such a nice night, so double dessert it was! Both boys were COVERED in ice cream by the time they finished their cones, but what’s a little stickiness on one of our last nights of summer?!

It was such a busy, but perfect Saturday!
