I spent Saturday-Thursday at camp. It was my final shebang and it was everything I could have hoped for. I only took 3 photos the whole time (what was I thinking?!) but it was the most on-brand, CYC experience ever.

This week was HOT. Upper 90s-101. It was too hot to do anything. On Friday, we went to the library, the playground that is outside of the library, out to lunch and then hung out inside until it was time for neighborhood happy hour. On Fridays, people gather outside of one of our neighbor’s house and hang out, have drinks and catch up. We have the most friendly, best neighborhood of all time. We ate dinner in the front yard and ended up staying outside until nearly dark.

On Monday, the boys started “sports sampler” class at the YMCA. They will do 2 weeks of tee ball, 2 weeks of soccer, 2 weeks of flag football and 2 weeks of basketball. Their first class was a success with both boys getting a good hit off the tee. .
.
There was a parade of cars- everyone decorated their cars and we drove around the block 3 times, honking and yelling while the grads cheered from their decorated chairs. .
.
After graduation, we headed to Sarah and Grayson’s house to hang out and play. 5 little boys and a cute 1 year old girl- it was a great afternoon/evening with our friends.
.
We’ve got another busy week ahead, but hopefully it will be slightly cooler weather!
.
Danny and Heather went to my mom’s house to teach her (and the boys) how to play pickleball. .
I went to CYC for a few days and while I was gone, the boys and Nate went out to dinner.
.
We filled our pool and the boys (with their buddy from down the block) played nonstop.
.
Matching tank tops.
A backyard campfire. .
Kickoff to the MN State Fair with my mom and Cindy. It was very fun and I am excited for the real fair!.
.
Puppy snuggles.
.
Nate moved into his new office! This is a huge deal! He’s been an advisor for 2 years now (officially 2 years on June 17) and he has his permanent office. The boys and I helped him move last weekend.
.
On Sunday we walked with our neighbors to get ice cream. The kids stopped several times along the way to smell the flowers. .
.
.
We joined the YMCA so I could practice swimming before my lifeguard re-certification. It’s been very fun for the boys and I to go play and they are very excited for swim lessons to begin in June. .
By the time May is over, I will have made 46 DOZEN cookies. That is OVER 500 cookies. I have had so many custom orders and I really enjoy a challenge. .
.
.
.
We had a playdate at Richardson Nature Center with Skylar and Phoebe. It was SUCH a nice day outside and they had a ton of fun exploring and playing. .
.
.
On the same day, our neighbors had a Cinco de Mayo party (both the husband and wife’s birthday is May 5!). They had a pinata! We are realizing that we have VERY fun neighbors and there’s always someone to visit with or something happening in our neighborhood. I feel very lucky to not only have a house we love but also a neighborhood where we get invited to parties with pinatas!

The boys and I all had dentist appointments and I was really happy with how well they did. The dentist also discovered a loose tooth in Xander’s mouth while she was cleaning his teeth!
.
We had another playdate, this time with Xander’s bestie Leo at a cool park we’ve never been to.
.
.
.
On Mother’s Day, we went to Danny and Heather’s house where Danny made possibly the best steak I’ve ever eaten with a side of lobster. It was such an incredible meal!
.
.
.
Our neighbors (the same ones who had the Cinco de Mayo party) love the puppies and so when we were chatting, we all agreed a window in the fence was a much needed adjustment for both of our yards. Nate installed it and now the puppies can poke their heads into the neighbors’ yard to say hi. Our neighbor took the cutest picture of what they can see from their side.
.
On Sundays, it’s my day to sit on the couch and drink coffee and relax in the morning. Lately, there has been less quiet relaxing and more of 2 puppies wrestling on top of me.
.
Today the boys were at my mom’s house and they were VERY excited that Danny and Heather came over for a pickle ball lesson. Uncle Danny had his hat on backwards and soon after, both boys’ had rotated their own. .
The weather has been so warm and wonderful, so we are spending as much time outside as we can. The boys drive around, the puppies chase the boys- it’s utter chaos. Nate and I do our best to ignore the madness and enjoy our patio while sipping a drink.
The week ahead is SO busy- here we go!
This week was exciting as both Nate and I got our second round vaccines against Covid19. Mine was on Monday and I was prepared with my calendar clearned and meals prepped and ready to go into the oven in case I was sick for several days (as I’d read some people were after shot #2). But luckily, I didn’t have any reaction at all- my arm barely even hurt. On Wednesday, Nate got his, and, as many others have, 12 hours later, he was MISERABLE. He suffered for a full 24 hours, and then it went away thankfully.
.
.
She took her first walk today (we made it about 4 houses down before she refused to keep going).
Huddy loves her, but has also been a little extra snuggly with me too. I think he’s trying to figure out what exactly is going on and if it’s going to affect him at all. I just keep snuggling with him and reassuring him that life is good.
.
.
It was a FABULOUS week!!
…And baby brings our family to 6. Introducing Ruth Bader Ginsberg King-Whited, aka Ruthie. She is 13 weeks old and Hudson’s half sister (they have the same dad).

So now we have 2 boys and 2 puppies and our house is pure chaos. Dog hair, slobber, dog toys, kid toys… this is why we can’t have nice things, but I couldn’t be happier.
We spent the weekend in Omaha! Nate’s cousin Lucas got married and asked the boys to be ring bearers in his wedding. We road tripped the 6 hours to Omaha and it was a great weekend! I was very nervous about being in the car that long- I hate being in the car and I wasn’t sure how the boys would do. I had approximately 1million snacks with me. I had new DVDs. I had coloring books and other surprises to entertain them. I had motion sickness medication.
.
On Friday night, we had the rehearsal dinner. The restaurant was SO nice and it was one of the fancier meals I’ve had. Yes, our 3 year old ate a very expensive Wagu Beef tenderloin. Nate and I had cocktails that came with limes on the outside of the glass and Xander was very passionate he wanted the same. The waiter was wonderful and brought out extra lemons for Xander’s lemonade and he as very happy. We had the best creme brulee I’ve ever had, but the next morning, Xander said, “is the wedding going to have better treats than last night?” so it’s possible the fanciness was lost on him.
.
.
Saturday went headed back to the pool and also tried to pace ourselves since we’d been up so late the night before (dessert was served at 9, which is a solid 2 hours later than normal bedtime, but the boys did well!).
.
After some rest time, it was time to get ready for the wedding. On Friday morning, we had gone to the store to have their pants fitted, and I knew they were going to be an issue because both boys are pretty particular about their clothes. Xander didn’t have any issues (which I was surprised about) but Augustus was in full 3 year old mode. He was NOT interested in fancy pants, a dress shirt and a vest. I had expected a meltdown, but still hadn’t managed to get us ready with enough time. So Nate and Xander left (luckily the venue was right next door to the hotel) and once they left, Augustus snapped out of it (like only a 3 year old can) and said, “I’m ready to put on my suit” and that was that.
.
.
.
.
Xander danced for a little while, and at 8:30, Augustus said, “I am tired and ready to go back to the room now” so that was that. I missed the photo booth (which is my favorite thing in the world) but was happy that Augustus had made it through the day and done so well.
.
On Sunday, we went to Nate’s aunt and uncle’s house for brunch. It was the same caterer as the wedding and it was LOVELY.
.
The wonderful thing about bulldogs is a few blocks of walking and he’s out! .
.
On Tuesday, I got to read a book to Xander’s class over zoom. I also got to show off Hudson to everyone by holding him up to the camera.
On Wednesday, Hudson went to puppy class for the first time. There were 8 other dogs, including 2 other bulldogs! Of all the dogs, Huddy was, BY FAR, the craziest. He was SO excited. He couldn’t focus, never once even got close to sitting, and just wanted to play with his new friends. He is smart but he might be TOO social for class. We’ll see how next week goes.
.
.
.
Xander was a good sport. He was a little outraged that he got pranked, but once he had a real cake pop, he recovered quickly.
On Friday, the boys went to 2 parks- one with me and one with Nate. It was another lovely weather day. .
Saturday was basketball for Xander. Xander’s best buddy Leo is also in basketball, but he had to miss the first 2 classes because he was on vacation. Xander was SO excited to have Leo in class this week. They got to be partners for a drill and it was a good day!
We had bunny butt pancakes for breakfast.
After breakfast, Nate and the boys assembled our new patio furniture (which I didn’t actually take a photo of). The most exciting part was that ALL of the furniture came in one GIANT box, which quickly turned into a fort (I cut some windows for light)
It was a very busy week for us and now it is April!!
